Driven by Chinese demand, Brazilian beef exports ended 2019 with a record in volume and revenue. Shipped volumes reach 1.847 million tonnes and revenues of USD 7.59 billion. The figures represented a 12.4% and 15.5% growth, respectively, compared to 2018, exceeding the forecasts made and consolidating the pace of growth of Brazilian sales.
The good results obtained in 2019 are directly related to the increase of sales in consolidated markets, like China, United Arab Emirates and Russia, which shows not only the acknowledgement of the quality of Brazilian beef but also the trust in the national production standards. “The numbers show how much the Brazilian beef is well received and competitive overseas”, says Abiec’s President, Mr. Antonio Jorge Camardelli.
MAIN IMPORTERS
The positive results were mainly driven by the growth in Chinese demand, which in 2019 was consolidated as the main destination of Brazilian beef, accounting for 26.7% of the total exported by the country. In 2019, exports to China totaled 494,078 tonnes, 53.2% increase compared to
2018. In revenue, there was an 80% growth, with a total of USD 2.67 billion.
