History
The Brazilian Beef Exporters Association (ABIEC in Portuguese) is a main example of the importance and strength of associativism in a global context. Created in 1979, from the need of the beef exporters for a focused and more aggressive activity in the defense of their specific interests, ABIEC became its main representative from the sector in areas such as international trade regulation, health requirements and the opening of markets. In partnership with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil in Portuguese), ABIEC and its associates have participated in international fairs such as Sial in Paris; World Food Moscow, in Moscow; Gulfood, in Dubai; and Anuga, in Cologne, in addition to having held workshops in partnership with Brazilian embassies around the world and receiving authorities and opinion makers who visit the beef production chain with the objective of promoting our product abroad. ABIEC´s main purpose is to protect the interests of the beef exporting sector at the national and international levels. Engage in efforts to reduce tariff and non-tariff trade barriers and promote Brazilian products and the country’s image abroad with sight to opening and consolidating markets and guaranteeing the sector’s representation in national and international forums in order to influence the decision-making and the normative and legislative process that affect the international trade in beef.
